About the Class

In this live class, kids get to listen to an enthralling African Folktale and learn about where it came from. As the story is being told, participants will get to play different characters in the story as they act out mini scenes from the tale. They'll learn interesting facts about the country the story came from and they'll spend a few minutes discussing the important lessons they learned. This class will have the kids moving and yelling (politely) at their screens as they act out scenes and eagerly wait to find out how the story ends. There is no dull moment! Recommended for kids aged 5 to 10.

About the Folktale for This Class - Where Do Stories Come From?

The Folktale for this class tells the tale of where stories come from. According to the tale, in the time before time, there were no stories and parents had no way to entertain their children. But things all changed one day when a brave young mother set out on a journey to bring stories to the children in her village. By the end of this story, children will learn to trust the power within them and will believe that they can achieve anything they put their minds to. This tale is a beautiful story that you won't want to miss.

Why Take This Class?

Learning about culture can either help children connect with their roots and appreciate their own history more, or it can help them better appreciate diversity so that they can respectfully interact and engage with people from different backgrounds. With everything going on in the world right now, respect and appreciation for one another is vital in making the world a better place for all.

Using folktales is a fun way for kids to learn about other cultures because who doesn’t love a good story? The stories in this class are captivating and entertaining, and are most likely like nothing the kids have ever heard before, which makes the session all that more enchanting. Plus, folktales often teach an important life lesson so the children will finish the class a little wiser than they were before the class began.

So, whether you want them to learn about culture or you are just looking for something for them to do, this class is sure to have your children captivated and entertained the whole way through.

This class is the first in a series of classes to come. Check back soon to find information on future classes.
